| Saint Nicholas was a virtuous man who was known for his
charity and philanthropic spirit. He lived in the fourth century and is best remembered
for leaving bags of gold on the doorsteps of the poor. Saint Nicholas Day, December 6th,
is celebrated in many parts of the world and represents the human kindness that builds
every community. In Houston, hundreds of volunteers come together to pack special backpacks filled with toys and books that delight thousands of disadvantaged children throughout the city who otherwise may not celebrate the holidays. Children pre-K through 3rd grade arrive on December 6 to find gold tinsel strewn in the hallways and every desk laden with filled backpacks. |
