The Greater Houston
area still has extensive damage and repair work is expected to be ongoing for
at least the next year. As of October,
2009 there are still over 800 homes that need repairs. The Greater Houston Long Term Recovery
Committee (GHLTRC), which is a coalition of church, city, service and volunteer
agencies, is looking for volunteers to help repair, paint & help move
furniture in Ike-damaged homes for low-income families, seniors and disabled
people. These are deserving homeowners who have no other means to repair or
rebuild their homes.
